Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 7, 2026

PromptVault ("we," "our," or "the extension") is committed to a Privacy-by-Design and Local-First philosophy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data when you use the PromptVault Chrome Extension.

The Core Principle: Your data remains yours. We do not operate a backend server, we do not collect your prompts, and we do not track your activity.

1. Information Handling (Website Content)

To provide its core functionality, the extension requires permission to interact with specific AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity).

2. Personal Information

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not require account creation, and we do not have access to your email, name, or browsing history outside of the supported AI platforms.

3. Data Storage and Security

All prompts, tags, and templates are stored within your browser’s secure sandbox using IndexedDB. This means your data is as secure as your own computer's file system. We do not have any way to access your stored data.

4. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. Your data never leaves your device unless you manually export it yourself.

5. User Control & Deletion

You have absolute control. You can export or delete your entire database at any time through the extension settings. Removing the extension from Chrome permanently purges all locally stored data.

6. Chrome Web Store Compliance

PromptVault complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only the minimum permissions necessary to function and handle user data in accordance with the User Data Privacy guidelines.
